Grömitz lies on the Bay of Lübeck with its beach facing south. That is how it got its nickname: the sun stays over the water all day.
You can leave the car where it is. The town is laid out so that everything is within walking distance: the promenade, the harbour, the shops for everyday needs. From our house it is one hundred metres to the sand.
If you prefer it quieter, drive a few kilometres further: Kellenhusen and Dahme are on the same stretch of coast but are much smaller. Behind the dyke begins the rolling countryside of Ostholstein, with farm tracks, hedgerows and tree-lined lanes. Good cycling country.

One hundred metres, then sand
Our three apartments are in a quiet house, two minutes' walk from the beach. The fourth is eight kilometres inland in Riepsdorf, for anyone who finds the town too lively.
